Gumasa Beach is exactly what Boracay is 20 years ago: No-frills laid-back white sand beach.

Months after the official closing of Boracay, the world is on the search for another Philippine beach that will be on par with the stunning white sand beach Boracay has to offer. From the surfing spots of La Union and Baler in the North, several underrated beaches in Visayas, and more hidden gems in Mindanao, tourists won’t certainly run out of options.

Enter Gumasa Beach in Sarangani Province. Dubbed as the “Boracay of the South,” Gumasa Beach offers the same beautiful shoreline, fine white powdery sands, and pristine turquoise waters, complete with a picturesque backdrop. Its long crescent beach stretches six kilometers on Sarangani’s eastern shore.

The beach has all the things has to offer minus the completely commercialized stations and wild night parties of Boracay. While fun is Boracay’s selling point aside from its beautiful beach, the feeling of exclusivity, privacy, and serenity is what makes Gumasa Beach appealing to a lot of people. Who wouldn’t dream a life  If you’re looking for something quieter, and less crowded, you should check out this beach down south.

There are various resorts available offering accommodation, knowing free-spirited people who wanted a detox of their stressful lives will seek refuge after seeing this paradise.  You won’t have a problem with food, too. There are plenty of fresh seafood and fish dishes you can taste and some resorts offer food for their patrons.

How to go there:

There are direct flights from Metro Manila to General Santos City.  You can choose from the local airlines departing on NAIA Terminals 2 and 3.  Taxi rates are around P300.

From the airport, you may go to KCC Mall’s front entrance and look for van terminals for Glan, Sarangani. The fare is around P80 and drop off at the beach of your choice. You can also take a habal-habal going directly to the beach for only around P30.
