Seeing a lot of rainbow-themed pictures and posts while scrolling your social media accounts recently? That’s because June is Pride Month!
Annually, members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community commemorate the Stonewall Riots in Manhattan in 1969. It is also a month full of the community’s celebration of sexuality through the burst of rainbow colors.
Of course, Philippines is participating in the festivities. The advocacy group Metro Manila Pride will be holding the annual Pride March and Festival on June 30 again at Marikina Sports Center.
This year’s Pride March theme will be #RiseUpTogether, a campaign against the heightened inequality that members of the community experience every day. In 2018, Metro Manila Pride calls for a more solid unity to become better advocates and contribute to a more meaningful and long-term change.
Metro Manila Pride March and Festival 2018 starts as early as 12 noon for the program. The march proper begins at 4 pm. The event is expected to finish at 6 pm onwards after the final program.
