Filipinos are known to have really close family ties with very close relationships with relatives. To honor our beloved family, we even celebrate various family-related events.

Whether it’s National Siblings’ Day, Grandparents’ Day, Father’s Day, or Mother’s Day, we really make an effort to give back to our families.

It’s that time of the year again. Mother’s Day is just a few sleeps away. Whether you’re an expressive child or an awkward one, take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge your mother who introduced you to this world. If not for her 9 months of morning sickness and agonizing delivery, you wouldn’t be born in this world.

If you wanted to take Mother’s Day to the next level, set aside your flowers and chocolates! Here are some 8 special things you can do to make her day more special:

1.Treat her to a Mother’s Day Buffet

They said that “a way to a woman’s heart is through her stomach!” Treat your mother to a buffet of her choice! Take away the apron and toque and feed her with delicious food. Take note, don’t overdo it. Avoid fancy restaurants because she might just compare her cooking and complain about the prices. There are a lot of restaurants that have a Mother’s Day promo, so it’ll be a good feast for everyone in the family.

2.Have a pamper day with your mom

Your mom might be a career woman who goes to an office on weekdays. You can book a relaxing treat for her at the spa! You might wanna get a complete pamper package for her —that well-deserved mani-pedi, a new hair color, or hair treatment, body scrub or massage, hand and foot spa! It’ll be better if it’s a bonding with you and the family. For sure, she’ll be more than happy to work hard for the family again.

3.Shopping Day!

It doesn’t have to be too luxurious. You can just accompany your mom while shopping, carry her stuff, or buy her a dress she really loved last time you went to the mall. There are also Mother’s Day sales out there if you want to treat her even on a budget. Who knows? She might just want a fancy shopping spree at Divisoria or Taytay!

4.Watch a movie together

Watching movies is a great bonding activity for the whole family. Perhaps, you can think of the Avengers: Infinity War, or a Filipino movie starring Paolo Ballesteros and Solenn Heusaff,  Two Moms, just in time for Mother’s Day.

5.Go to a concert with her

If your mom is into music or concerts, you may take her to a jazz bar or join her to watch concerts of her favorite singers! But if you’re kinda low on budget and you and/or your mother are musically inclined, why not stage an impromptu concert in your house or dedicate songs to her?

6.Plan a staycation

There are a lot of great Airbnb houses in and outside Metro Manila. You can enjoy your peace and quiet time staying out of the buzzing streets of Metro Manila. You can also swim on infinity pools, or make it complete with the pampering at the spa, and eat at the buffet.

7.Head to the beach

Underrated Beaches In Visayas

Get your vitamin sea with your Mom and go to the beach! Even though Boracay is not opening any time soon, you can also go to other equally beautiful beaches near Metro Manila or those stunning hidden beaches in the country. Get your sunscreen and swimwear ready for an unforgettable beach outing with your mom.

8. Offer a Mother’s Day personal coupon

It’s the thought that counts, and as simple as a “personal coupon” sounds, it could mean a lot to your mom. Whether she asks you to do some errands, to have a hilot session with her, or to just clean the house for her, this is also a good gift for the mother that needs a well-deserved rest.

These are some of the level up things you can do for your mom this Mother’s Day. Creativity is key, so always think of what your mom would really love!

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers out there!
