Good news, theater fans! Disney’s The Lion King is extending their run in Manila until May 20!
Since its announcement of its world tour, The Lion King musical has been one of the most-awaited theatrical shows in the country. After all, the Tony Award-winning musical tells one of the most favorite stories of every Disney fan.
When they initially sold tickets in October 2017, shows were selling out like hot pies that they had to extend the show in January: From March to May 6, 2018. Now, Michael Cassel Group and Concertus Manila will extend the run yet again until May 20 to cater to fans who still wish to watch the award-winning musical.
The Lion King is on its 20th year on stage while the tour in Manila is the start of their 25th global production. In the main cast are Ntsepa Pitjeng (Rafiki), Mthokozissi Emkay Khanyile (Mufasa), Calvyn Grandling (Simba), Noxolo Dlamini (Nala), and Anthony Lawrence (Scar). The actors came from South Africa except for Anthony Lawrence who came from the United Kingdom.
Some Filipino actors also joined the cast for the musical’s show in Manila. Julien Joshua M. Dolor Jr., Gabriel P. Tiongson, and Omar Sharief L. Uddin share the role of the Young Simba. While Sheena Kirsten Bentoy, Uma Naomi Martin, and Felicity Kyle Napuli are playing the role of Young Nala.
The production runs until May 20 and is set to fly to other Asian countries like Singapore (June 2018), Korea (October 2018), Taiwan (2019), and South Africa, after their journey in Manila.
