7 Unique Cinemas Around Metro Manila and Beyond For A New Movie Experience

Take your movie watching to a whole new level at these unique cinemas around Metro Manila!

In past stories, we delivered to you low-key movie houses and VIP cinemas where you get a more intimate film viewing experience thanks to their limited spaces. But because we love you that much, we’re featuring another batch of one-of-a-kind cinemas where you get various perks like extra comfort and unlimited snacks!

Nuvali Night Sky Cinema

Remember those scenes in the movies where the leads (that you totally ship) watch a film in public, while they sit in their cars—a.k.a. a drive-in cinema? We have that, too, except you sit on the super green grass and enjoy the cool Tagaytay Breeze—in Nuvali Night Sky Cinema. They don’t hold screenings often, but when they do, they make sure to provide extra entertainment such as live performances featuring Filipino musicians. Their last screening was in December, where squads, lovebirds, and solo fliers witnessed “Seven Sundays” and “Love You to the Stars and Back.”

Nuvali Night Sky Cinema is located at Santa Rosa – Tagaytay Rd, Don Jose, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

You don’t have to worry about chancing upon a PBA player. Shang Cineplex, aside from its typical cinema set-up, has seats set on angled rows so you won’t miss a scene. Shang moviegoers have also commended the staff who actually know about the films the cinema is featuring. The popcorn’s a big plus, too—it’s extremely flavorful!

Shang Cineplex is located at Main Wing Building Shangri-La Mall, EDSA Corner Shaw Blvd, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.

Well, aside from its comfy seats, we should note that you will be munching on unlimited snacks throughout your stay here. It’s a tad pricier than other cinemas, but rest assured that you can enjoy a non-stop supply of popcorn (plain, cheese, and barbecues flavors) and drinks (soda, water, or iced tea).

Eastwood Cinema Ultra 7 is located at 4/F Eastwood Mall, E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave. (C5), Eastwood City, Quezon City.

iChill Theater Café

If the idea of comfort for other cinemas is cozy seats, iChill Theater Café is pushing comfortable commercial viewing to the limit: it’s just like your living room at home. It’s also a great opportunity for budding artists to showcase their theatrical and film masterpieces, as iChill features non-mainstream movies.

iChill Theater Café is located at 1125 Dos Castillas St, Sampaloc, Manila.

The Yard StreetFood Cinema

If #foodislife for the squad, The Yard StreetFood Cinema will be the best movie house out there. Instead of popcorn for snacks, you get a whole plethora of delicious comfort food from about 20 stalls inside this food park.

Make sure you don’t skip PIPA House, who serves snacks named after your favorite movie stars. There’s Lily TACOllins, which is a delicious taco-pizza hybrid.

As for the films, well, they screen movies that suit the taste of most millennials: Marvel movies like Spiderman and Thor, and the aca-mazing Pitch Perfect series.

Blue Water Day Spa

It clearly wasn’t built to be a movie theater, but a spa, wherein you can enjoy a movie or two while getting the week’s stress off your body. Claiming to be the “first in the world” to combine a movie theater and a spa together, they see to it that they don’t disappoint being the pioneers of this cinema-cum-spa, with their quality projector, amazing audio and of course—who could forget the La-Z-boy chairs?

They don’t have particular screening schedules but we say the massage service will be worth the gamble.

Blue Water Day Spa is located at 2/F BPI Greentop Condominium, Ortigas Avenue, San Juan.

Alliance Francaise de Manille is not a movie theater, but a non-profit organization in the Philippines that promotes French culture. As part of such, they organize activities open to the public such as exhibits and film viewing through their very own Cine Club. On Wednesdays, film buffs are given the chance to enjoy classic and contemporary films that are often of historical and cultural value. The best part about this is that it’s free.

Alliance Francaise de Manille’s office is located at 209 Nicanor Garcia Street, Bel-Air II, Makati City.
