You don’t need to go North or South just to satisfy your food cravings! These food spots in Mandaluyong got your back!
Think of a food hub in Metro Manila and you’d probably either say Quezon city’s Maginhawa or Marikina’s Lilac street.
However, what not everyone knows is that Mandaluyong can give these food hubs a run for their money in terms of the city’s mouthwatering delights.
Ready to know more about what Mandaluyong has in store to make your tummy happy? Here are five restaurants to check out in Metro Manila’s tiger city:
1. The Lokal Food Park
Let’s start this list with a bang with a food park located along Shaw Boulevard. With a food truck-inspired interior and three floors filled with stalls, The Lokal will surely make a great tambayan spot when you’d just like to sit back, unwind and eat the stress away.
However, the food isn’t the only thing that defines The Lokal. For those who are looking for additional entertainment, this food park actually has a game room and karaoke room you can utilize after stuffing your stomach full.
From takoyaki balls, Korean cuisine to an overdose of cheese, you can get all these in this food park. Curious? Head on over to The Lokal Food Park, Shaw Blvd. cor. Lawson St, Mandaluyong.
2. R & J Bulalohan
Though this may look like your typical hole-in-the-wall restaurant, R&J Bulalohan has been around for quite some time now. Located near the heart of the city, you’ll see that this restaurant exudes a bahay kubo vibe to its customers
More than that, this food hub offers a variety of food that will satiate your craving for Filipino food. Ranging from seafood, pork, soup and more, all of these are offered at a reasonable price.
Of course, as with their name, their Bulalo (Special 279.00 Regular 229.00) is a must-try, especially during the rainy days. If you want to give this restaurant a try, you can find them at Bonifacio Ave. Mandaluyong City (near Maysilo Circle).
Love photography? Whether you’re a hobbyist or a pro, Caffera doesn’t discriminate. Photography lovers will find this cafe as the perfect spot to hang out in after a day of shooting. This coffee shop actually originated from Maginhawa. Eventually, they moved their branch to Boni Avenue, Barangay New Zaniga, Mandaluyong.
One thing you’d probably notice is that they serve their coffee in a cup designed to look like a camera’s lens. (To add, their cup sizes are called “pixel” and “megapixel”!) Really, this alone would make any budding photographer giddy with excitement.
But their menu doesn’t stop there. To go along with your cup of coffee, they offer cupcakes (yes, they’re also photography-themed) for customers looking for a light snack. You’ll also find yogurt smoothies if you’d like to skip the caffeine.
4. Yvan Navy
Craving for a burger? Don’t just head over to a fast food chain and order what seemed like their tastiest burger. Instead, why not take a jeepney to Barangka drive and try the burgers and shawarmas of Yvan Navy?
While this isn’t really a native Mandaleño restaurant, Yvan Navy has a branch in Barangka filled with wooden tables and a chill vibe.
Yvan Navy, although they have various branches all over the metro, mostly remains to be this low-key, budding burger place. First taste of their burgers and you know that it’s worth it for the sub-100 pesos that you paid.
Juicy burgers await you here in Yvan Navy. Do check them out at Barangka Drive cor. Talayan Street, Malamig, Mandaluyong City.
5. Kanto Freestyle Breakfast
Last but not the least is a restaurant that can actually be considered as Mandaluyong’s flagship resto. Ask anyone from Mandaluyong about Kanto and they’ve probably already tried, want to try or at least heard of it.
