Everyone needs a little bit of R&R, but not everyone can afford a long trip away from the busy streets of Metro Manila. This travel guide will help you maximize your trip to wonderful spots in Rizal to make your drive up more worth it!

While there are a lot of vacation destinations in Luzon, here are five spots in Rizal that are underrated yet worth the trip!

Rizal offers a lot of recreational fun that you can do in just one day, and is a great alternative for those who are looking for a shorter travel time. To make your trip a little more worth it, here’s a guide of what you can do and where to spend your whole day:

Start the day right and early with a hearty breakfast, while enjoying the rising sun. The privacy of the cafe gives you immediately the much-needed seclusion from the busy streets of Manila.

Eggs For Breakfast looks like an estate-turned-cafe, its restaurant occupying a small space while the rest of the area is converted into an events place with a large, decorated garden. The whole place is aesthetically rustic, perfect for your IG feed.

The food doesn’t disappoint either. Sticking to their theme, the all-day breakfast cafe is best-known for their Western breakfast menu, such as Eggs Benedict, French toast, and pancakes; but they also do their own twists of Filipino breakfast, salads, and pastas that are definitely worth the try!

Eggs for Breakfast is located at Velada Estate, #21 Don Juan St., Villa Cecilia Subd., Sumulong Highway, Antipolo, Rizal

For the adventure-seekers, you can enjoy what Rizal has to offer by being one with nature through an ATV Trail Tour. The trails can last from 2 to 8 hours, depending on which tour package you choose. Enjoy the fresh air of the forest and take a look at the whole of Metro Manila, take a dip in the Marikina river and enjoy the mountain views, or trek the jungle with your barkada for half a day—it’s up to you how adventurous you want to be.

If you prefer a more relaxing adventure, but an adventure nonetheless, a quick trip to the falls may be a great R&R activity for you. Daranak and Batlag falls are hidden gems in Rizal. Both have clear and cool waters that gives you the energizing and refreshing soak you need. You can also bring some snacks and packed lunch as you enjoy outdoor dining on their wooden picnic tables and chairs by the falls.

After enjoying Daranak falls situated at the foot of a mountain range, Batlag falls is just a short trek behind. It is managed by a private owner, making the place more serene and the waters clearer. You can also set up camp at the grounds if you want to stay overnight and enjoy the nature at night.

Meanwhile, for those who want to simply relax and go on a day trip, Pinto Art Museum is a great spot to do just that. Get away from the busy life of the Metro and immerse in arts and cultures. Surround yourself with the various art masterpieces you can see around the area.

The museum’s architecture is like a Greek taverna with a twist of rustic, old Filipino setting. It’s perfect for an overlooking view of the sunset.

The collections displayed in the museum are divided into galleries consisting modern and abstract art pieces. There are traditional art that portray Filipino’s daily life.

Before going back down the Metro, have one last meal overlooking the city lights at night. Cafe Lupe is a bed and breakfast hostel and restaurant, visited by many for its view over Metro Manila.

After visiting the hills of Rizal, you can unwind by the sky deck, have a drink, enjoy the karaoke. You can also simply chill in the company of your friends while overlooking the city’s skyline.

Cafe Lupe is located at 267-269 Comoda Ville Penthouse, Sitio Ruhat, Sumulong Highway, Mambugan, Lower Antipolo, Rizal
